This post is dedicated to the cricket lovers of this country. I am done with it; for the era has passed where my favourite players were playing for India . And I am not that kind of follower who loves cricket more than cricket player. For me, cricket player’s technique, his overall outlook, his class, consistency, was more important than cricket itself. So once the player is gone; cricket was gone for me.
Guys this news really brought smile on my face for the moment as I went straight in my childhood when we would play sort of ‘gully cricket’ on anyday and sometimes a full game won’t last more than half an hour. Or a team would hardly stand full 10 over’s match. Score would be funny and chase would often become funnier.
I did not know that those big players, who aim for Indian cricket team while playing First class cricket also play like that some times. If you don’t believe go through the news at http://cricket.zeenews.com/fullstory.aspx?nid=33211
Jaipur:
2010-2011 Ranji season got off to a sensational start as Rajasthan bowled Hyderabad for a meager 21, which is the lowest ever total in the history of Ranji Trophy.
Debutant, 18-year-old Rajasthan pacer Deepak Chahar was the wrecker-in-chief as he took 8 wickets for just 10 runs in his 7.3-over spell.
Chahar’s pace-bowling partner Pankaj Singh claimed the remaining two wickets. It was such a pathetic show by the Hyderabad batsmen that the whole team could last for only 15.3 overs. Hyderabad thus ‘broke’ the record of Southern Punjab for the lowest ever total in Ranji Trophy. Southern Punjab were bowled out for 22 way back in the 1934-35 domestic season.

And that too in front of the pace bowling which was Indian!
I remember my days when the ground would be dusty, no pads (As tennis balls came later), and those heavy bats which won’t shake till the ball is already fielded to keeper. If you are hot blooded; you will possible bruised but dive you will certainly; in anticipation of a clap from a co-fielder far end at ground. Same blame games after a humiliating or deserving loss. Someone will be responsible for low score, poor bowling, or bad fielding but no doubt; there was someone responsible other than you for that whole show.
Game will be boycotted but only to begin again on the very next day. And the same story of win- loss would continue till one day we found ourselves grown up. That low scoring story vanished till this day.

really.this is the score we managed 2 save sumtimes, and failed to chase too.
I remember a match during my stint at Congo. Eagles (17) vs Vipers (25). It was the final of the tournament. The Vipers were the team to beat and nobody gave us the eagles any chance whatsoever. But miracles happen they say...and the fancied Vipers were bowled out mere 21 runs. And we did it without loosing a wicket. So Cricket is a funny game. The booing and hooting that followed, reached a crescendo, that day.
Well written blog...But I feel that Game is bigger than the Individual.
