Indian Army sharing dais with corrupt politicians.

It is a bright morning here in Mumbai. At last; the rising Sun here makes me feel that it must be cold in north India in these early hours of the day. It is still hot in Mumbai, God knows when will winter knock. Personally I miss the winter of uttarakhand; the extreme cold when you can’t stop yourself sitting idle for hours in the cozy mornings and late in evenings with hot cups of tea time and again.

On leave for two weeks it feels great when you damn care what time you leave bed. But the tragic part is that such days are only numbered whereas most of the life, you keep on fighting for your rights and growth opportunities, which most of the people do legally whereas few illegally.

This morning it was very sad while going through “Times Of India” Mumbai edition. The place in the newspaper which proudly and exclusively meant for the politicians on this country had to make place for the once coveted general of Indian Army. The general who along with other two men in uniform, went to share the pie which was meant for widows of their men, the men who brought them glory sacrificing their lives at the Kargil in a war imposed on us which we won but only after paying heavy costs. What a shame? I wondered were the borders in safe hands in the tenures of these generals? Or are they still in good hands I doubt.

We, the Indians are used to see the politicians photographs in the newspapers and magazines for the wrong reasons and we have a kind of self-agreement that we won’t get surprise to see those dhotiwalas below those headlines of 72 fonts. Later the Babus started to share the eye catching headlines and unwillingly we had to accept that the red taps are equally corrupt and let them join the dais with the politicians where even the ranks of prime ministers proudly join them without shame.

But we had respect for the men in uniform. We did not expect them to do something which was immoral. A powerless citizen has nothing except the values and he regards the institutions and organizations where the morality is regarded as the driving force of the organization. Army used to be such once so it was a sad picture today when I saw General Deepak Kapoor photographed along with Suresh Kalmadi and A Raja.

Army, the great institution of this country had this day for us finally. It is not just one individual as many of us would try to defend this organization, the list of scams in army appears endless and it is not just one individual involved in each scam remember. As I said earlier also, Indian Army has lost it’s values and ethos so I am trying to develop a habit not to get surprised for anything wrong in army; something we had so far kept reserved for dhotiwal
as and babus. Unfortunate this country is, where none of us is left with stain of corruption included Indian Army.

‘Timesnow” TV must be appreciated for it’s relentless effort to bring the culprits to books. Be it army or the traders seated in the corridor of powers. Hats off guys!
