"Slumdog Millionaire" the real Millionaire!

This country produces classes but in patches. When he comes he arrives to rule the world that is for sure!
We had just one Gandhi, Truly a masterpiece, a torchbearer of world peace, an incomparable miracle, a man of principles, and unparallel creation of the God who was born never to have a figure like him. We are still searching his shadows to alleviate the polity of our country but alas…cancer has never been so incurable and we have none so far.
May be then one Indira Gandhi who is known as iron lady of India. May be but this lady of iron would then had undergone scrutinizing through our generation but had never an opportunity to rationalized hr achievements and drawbacks.
Luckily we are living in the era of Sachin Tendulkar who has been being named as the god of cricket often. I sometimes think if h is the god what had been the honours for Sir Don Bradman then? Still he is the one of the greatest master.
Then just few days back we happened to be the part of achievement in the field of cinema. From nowhere a movie arrived like a meteoroid and soon it griped the nation in an euphoria of winning the Academy award finally, forgetting what it was all about. Than as told and anticipated, it swept the floor with 8 Oscars out of possible 10.
India went hysterical. In the busy street of Santacruz in Mumbai, I saw even the poor labourers telling each other in “Bhojpuri” that India won some award in “Bidesh”. News channels shouting at full throttle like they are awarding the Oscar to India!
To some extend it was justified to celebrate, afterall we are the largest producer of movies each year and each year passes by without any international presence felt. What goes wrong? We market well for our films. It is a billion rupees industry which waives the dreams for full 3 hours taking you all along to the beautiful rivers, mountains, sweet girls and drama like any other film made in Hollywood or in France. Or to some plot involving lot of action, motion and ultimately hero either winning or dying the death of martyr.
Forget for full three hours you are battling the common problems of day to day life.
But my question was is it justified to hype the success of “Slumdog Millionaire”? I do not know much about making of movie but all I know that the plot is nothing that could be called something as new. There is already a movie on the same subject with the name “Dharavi”. Have you heard about it ?No I hope!
It was not heard, not because it did not deserve! It was because it was made by an Indian!! If I say more bluntly, may be had same movie been made by the same Mr. Danny Boyle he would have got the same Oscar years back! I just wanted to ask the question what was something in “Slumdog Millionaire”? that India does not make? I still wonder what was wrong with “Lagaan”. “Swadesh”? Or TJP?
I must be frank enough that I fully endorse the view of Mr.Amitabh Bacchan what he wrote is his blog that we need not to look west to get the approval or recognition. When we indian will understand that afterall there is something called national pride. Remember Kalpana Chawala? Only because she studies in India made her star overnight and none bothered what she did for India? All she did was for herself and her genius and other services were for US.What she did for India that we sing her, I still ask?? Really I do not understand why we go ga-ga over something which in ultimately making us laughing stock??
“Slumdog…” is nothing but a portrait of the penury of 350 million people of India who are forced to live in that way. And one director from west comes to India, knowing that what the stuff actually world wants to see and he makes the mockery of poverty for his finical gains. He knew that what a movie made by a white skinned director can achieve; none of any Indian would achieve it, anything he tries. Are you convinced that he showed to spread some message? He was here because for him it was just his business. And he got what he thought of.
And we are celebrating the success of “Slumdog Millionaire”? because at last we are rewarded for our poverty! Yes that is what the message went worldwide. For the rest of the world we are not 4th largest economy, largest democracy, neuclear power country, one of the highst growth rate economy but we are just the country of poors, beggers asking for help?? Whom to blame? Think we Indians will remain like this only. We do not value ourselves till someone out from our sphere blesses us and approves our work. I call it joke because we are appreciated for out poverty and we are happy because world is laughing on the living standard on Dharavi. Proud moment of India isn’t it?
We shold have celebrated only for 3 Oscars because that is the numbers we won! It was the solo music of AR Rahman and lyrics of Gulzar which could not be Danny Boyled! But then again they won because they worked with Danny boyle. May be that has been the reason that despite winning Oscar, AR Rahman did not mention the music of “Slumdog Millionaire” as his best creation as asked by Timsnows because deep in his heart he knew that he won it only because this was the movie of someone who is a white and not hails from India! He knew that he had given better performance in other movies.
Come on India we will wait for the day when a movie made in India by indian wins oscar. Jai Ho!

Ram Sena and Media!Let us see who wins!

The ghost of Mangalore attack does not seem to die. Week has been passed since then but it looks like media is determined not to let it die down so easily and unnoticed. What an aggressive marketing has it been for any secular party in Indian politics except BJP and organizations like RSS. News channels NDTV, CNN-IBN, TIMESNOW are few of the prominent one who have been covering the entire episode round the clock in such a fashion which they done during 26/11 attack on India! Looked like Ram Sena has waged a war against the secular India and the India is in front of clear danger like it was on 26 November.

I saw whole Indian print and visual media united on a common cause on Mumbai attack. Despite few of the irresponsible, misadventurous reporting (significantly by NDTV) due to which one NSG commando had to pay for his life, the role of media has been really appreciable in those terrorist attacks. Since indian media is now in adolescent state hence on such improper reporting, chances must be given to them to grow up as to be developed as a complete pillar of strength of India. Truly a better picture of Indian media suddenly seemed to take shape in front of my eyes; hoping it will be expectedly perform well beyond party, religion or creed. Kind of mature media which could report us actual facts and figures without being biased.

Then as expected the “josh” of media on the said subject died down and I found our media battling again the war for TRP in which the coverage for the subject has crossed the limits quite often. In the influences of big names these so called news channel are doing childish; not bothered about the dignity of journalism and their responsibility for a fair reporting because as a viewer I expect them to put the news, not their own views. Please do leave that for my part!

The latest example has been the Mangalore pub attack. The media has damaged the subject to such limit that now I doubt every concerned news being telecasted with so many doubts. Just after that incident one MLA’s daughter and her friend has been beaten and IBN puts this news as an attack on society by Ram Sena’s attempt of ‘kidnapping’; and 'communalism' since her friend was a Muslim! I do not know, had he been a Hindu do these channels had portrait him as a ‘Hindu’ citizen beaten? Even if all the news been true was it necessary to report the faith of the girl’s friend?

I do not know which party these channels are dedicated to? Without investigating the incident properly, almost all the channel went on air that it was once again masterminded by Ram Sena. Now when it is clear that it was not done by Ram sena will they apologize to Ram Sena?

If you look precisely into the matter it seems that it is one kind of propaganda being spread by media to save congress for forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka. As everyone knows that Congress is lacking of in depth leadership to revive the party with on option left; it is hence better move to drown the emerging opponent along with it. Such kind of hyping the useless issues can create a negative image of BJP among masses as they think it.

I feel attacking the girls in the pub is not such a big issue which could be kept for more than a week as a breaking news on your channel. Clearly media is sympathetic for congress thereby defeating the very purpose of foremost principle of unbiased journalism! By involving the name of Ram Sena with BJP, here the media is trying to help congress in upcoming elections.

As a common citizen of India I don’t approve the attacks by Ram Sena but same time I want to convey that so far the media has been terribly failed in invoking the nation despite it’s partial reporting on the subject. I am no supporter of BJP but this much I (and people too, I think ) also understand that by unnecessarily publicizing this, not that much important incident, you are just putting shame on pure journalism.
